Compton & Newberry

Mike Compton and Joe Newberry, masters of old-time mandolin and banjo/guitar, dig deep into early country music and blues. Their duet-singing, two-man string band ranges between traditional songs, instrumentals, ‘mother’ ballads and original tunes. It’s not about the number of notes with Compton and Newberry, but telling the truth and respecting the song.


High Fidelity

High Fidelity formed in early 2014, and they received their first achievement in February 2014 when they took first place in the International Band Championship at the 40th Annual Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music of America (SPBGMA) Awards. Since then, their name and reputation have preceded them in the bluegrass music community, and they have been warmly received by all audiences for which they have performed.

High Fidelity draws much of their inspiration from the likes of bands such as Don Reno & Red Smiley, The Stanley Brothers, The Louvin Brothers, Jim & Jesse, and a host of lesser known regional artists from the same era. Their goal is to bring this music to audiences of today’s generation who might otherwise never hear the music of these greats while at the same time making their own mark as a group of young musicians and singers – a fresh musical perspective that looks to the future, rooted strongly in the foundation of our music from the past.


Danny Paisley & The Southern Grass

Danny Paisley and the Southern Grass play powerful, unadorned, and intense traditional bluegrass. There is no hybrid or genre-bending music here. Their combination of instrumentation and vocals convey the energy and emotion of classic bluegrass and country music. Danny’s lead vocals will captivate your senses, so much so that many prominent musicians, including Alison Krauss, have considered Danny as one of their favorite singers.   His voice combines powerful range and soulful blues with a sound like no one else in bluegrass today.

IBMA Emerging Artist of the Year (Della Mae), IBMA Recorded Event of the Year (The Daughters of Bluegrass) and a coveted GRAMMY nomination for Best Bluegrass Album (Della Mae).

She’s graced the stage of Nashville’s beloved Ryman Auditorium, as well as numerous festivals including Bonnaroo, Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival, and Cambridge Folk.  Her career continues to blossom with each appearance in the 30+ countries she’s performed in worldwide.

From baby boomers to millennials, seasoned festival­ goers to country converts, Jenni Lyn’s music offers a current approach to the evolving bluegrass sound, while maintaining the perfect balance of that down­ home comfort. Noam Pikelny

Universal Favorite is the fourth record Noam Pikelny has released under his own name, but it’s truly his solo debut. His previous efforts—including 2011’s Beat the Devil and Carry a Rail and 2014’s landmark Noam Pikelny Plays Kenny Baker Plays Bill Monroe—were full-band affairs that revealed his abilities as a dynamic bandleader while reinforcing his reputation as an inventive accompanist. The new release features only the man himself, playing lovely originals and covers that showcase his unique approach to the instrument and compositional flair. He recorded them live in the studio without accompaniment, coaxing a wide array of sounds and colors out of his instruments, embracing the challenges and exploring the new possibilities of the solo setting.

And, for the first time in his long and illustrious career, Pikelny even sings. It turns out he has a striking deadpan baritone that conveys humor and melancholy in equal measure. This album, he says, is “my musical manifesto. It’s the most personal statement I’ve put forward. The setting couldn’t be more stark and I think it lays bare my musical core. At times it’s autobiographical, as these songs I gathered illuminate the path I’ve traveled so far. Most importantly, it’s an incredibly honest solo album, in that there are honestly no other people on this record other than me.”
