Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How will I get to the museum from the hotel?
A. There hasn’t been a demonstrated need for a shuttle in previous years. Carpooling is the most common form of transportation.  If you need a ride, one of our staff will provide it for you.

Q. What about meals?

A. The evening meal will be provided Friday, and lunches both Saturday and Sunday will be provided. Coffee, water and snacks are available during class break times. There are several good restaurants near the museum.

Q. Is alcohol served at the Faculty Concerts?

A. We do not have a liquor license. Complimentary wine and beer is available at the pickin’ party Friday and the reception at the museum prior to the concert Saturday night.

Q. Will there be handouts?
A. Handouts will be entirely at the discretion of the instructors. This style of playing is best taught by mimicry, repetition, ear training, study of repertoire and historical influences. If the instructors provide hand-outs, the primary use will be for review after camp is over.

Q. May I record the classes on audio and/or video?

A. This is also up to the individual instructor and permission must be granted prior to taping of any kind. In the past, students have videotaped the sessions.

Q. Will there be a group picture?

A. Yes, the group photo will be taken at the museum Saturday evening just prior to the concert.

Q. Do you have supplies (strings, picks, straps) available?

A. Yes. We have strings, picks, straps, string winders, CDs, DVDs, books, magazines, cups, shirts and hats in our gift shop, if you need to purchase anything while you’re here. You might want to think about stocking up, as our prices are the lowest anywhere, and our strings – D’Addario – are the highest quality.  It helps the museum if you purchase merchandise here. Thanks for helping!

Q. May I record the Faculty Concert?

A. No.

Q. Are there commemorative posters and t-shirts and do they cost extra?

A. Yes. They are free to those who register before May 1st, 2009. The t-shirt is $20.00 and the poster is $10.00. We highly recommend these items as well as the leather mandolin straps for instructor autographs.

Q. Will the instructors be selling CDs etc.?

A. Yes, they can be purchased in the museum’s gift shop.

Memberships and donations to the museum are encouraged and will be greatly appreciated!
